Bajaj Sales for the first half of 2020

For the first half of 2020, Bajaj Auto’s global sales were down to about 50% from last year. The poor results were significantly affected by the closure of the domestic market, the suspension of production and supply to key markets, such as Africa. Despite the fact that sales in India have now returned to pre-crisis levels, the annual report will show a significant drop.

In this terrible year for the Indian motorcycle market, Bajaj’s strong presence in the international market somewhat mitigates the significant domestic losses. Bajaj is the leader in the African market and has a very strong position in the Latin American market, and these regions were less affected by the crisis than India. However, the blockage in production and supply led to the shutdown of the company’s business in the African continent, and this significantly affected Bajaj. As a result, global sales for the first half fell by 48.3% and in the Indian market by 52.5%. Despite the fact that sales in Latin America (excluding Mexico) fell by only 1.5% in the first quarter, in the first half of the year the results here are 25% lower than last year.
