Of all the big Japanese four, Suzuki is the best in dealing with the crisis and its aftermath. In the first half of 2021, 761,767 units of motor vehicles were sold, which is 43.1% more than the corresponding period last year, and only 3.4% less than the results of the first half of 2019.
Significant growth against the background of last year
After showing 13% growth in the first quarter (just over 400 thousand units were sold), sales in the second quarter were slightly weaker (364 thousand units of motor vehicles), however, against the background of last year’s second quarter, sales doubled. As a result, the first half of the year showed significant growth against the background of last year and only slightly fell short of the results of 2019. Moreover, the key market, India, showed sales growth of 61.4%, and in the second most important market, the Philippines, the growth was 48.6%. In China, which also consumes a large volume of Suzuki motor vehicles, sales of this brand grew by 15.2%.
