Which helmet is more profitable – matte or glossy?

Motorcyclists have a lot of questions when choosing a motorcycle helmet – to decide on the type of helmet, the price range of models, to find the color they like … By the way, as far as design is concerned, the question of choosing between matte and glossy coatings is very popular. What are the pros and cons, is there an overt favorite in this matter?

Matt helmet

The matte finish is characterized by the “roughness” of the coating. These irregularities are extremely small, but because of them there is no specular reflection, so the light from such a helmet will be scattered in all directions. Thus, the helmet does not glare, and the shades on it appear muted. As a rule, matte helmets do not have a catchy design, because it is difficult to convey any special patterns on them – this is a calm design.

On matte surfaces, scratches, scratches and other traces of combat flights of owners are less noticeable. Again, this is due to the lack of specularity.

In fact, if it is very primitive on the fingers to explain the feature of the matte coating, then it can be described as “everything to oneself and in oneself”:

– Light does not reflect;
– Colors are muffled;
– Scratches and dents are less visible due to the lack of glare;
– Dirt from the surface is more difficult to wash off.

Yes, surface roughness, even this microscopic, affects adhesion. Therefore, everything that sticks to the helmet – midges, dirt, dust, a gift for money from migratory birds and other gusto of roads, will be difficult to launder. On the other hand, since the matte finish forgives scratches, then no debris will resist against wet microfiber, special detergents and hard work.

Glossy helmet

The glossy helmet has a smooth surface that reflects rather than scattering light. These helmets come in many bold designs and gore-out-of-the-eye colors. The price to pay for such beauty is glare and noticeable defects. Yes, any irregularities, scratches or dents will be visible. Fingerprints will also show up more clearly than on a matte helmet.

But a glossy helmet is easier to clean from dirt! It can still be polished! This is a good solution if you want to make the drawing more voluminous due to the lens of varnish.

In total, the glossy finish is characterized as “all from itself”:

– reflects light and glares;
– allows bright colors and original designs;
– visible prints, scratches and dents;
– dirt is easier to wash off from it.

Summary:

It is difficult to say that one coating dominates over another. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. Each driver chooses a helmet for a similar functionality and general appearance as a whole. For those who find it difficult to decide or want everything at once, there are combined options – both matte and glossy at the same time.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the helmet is primarily chosen for safety, comfort and functionality, and it is more logical to choose the color and features of the pattern after the understanding of the desired model has already appeared.
